Club Development
Dunlavin GAA Club has been actively engaged in various development initiatives to enhance our facilities and strengthen community involvement. Here’s an overview of our ecent efforts:
Sports capital grant
100,769 was awarded in 2022, we allocated this funding to the upgade of our dressing rooms, referees room, public toilets and storage area
We we’re delighted to officially open our fantastic, modern dressing rooms and facilities in June 2024
We were delighted to be awarded 127,281 in 2024 from aprts capital, this funding will go towards the completion of our clubhouse & remaining dressing rooms upgrade
Multi-Use Games Area Development
In 2024, Dunlavin GAA Club was awarded €144,000 under the Community Recognition Fund to develop a new multi-use games area. This project aims to provide year-round sports facilities, reducing the need for teams to travel outside the community during winter months. The development is expected to benefit not only the GAA club but also the wider community and surrounding areas.
Community Engagement: 'Ireland Lights Up'
In January 2024, the club hosted its first “Walk and Talk” event as part of the ‘Ireland Lights Up’ initiative, in partnership with RTÉ’s Operation Transformation, Get Ireland Walking, and the Irish Life ‘My Life’ app. Over 100 residents participated, utilizing the newly installed lighting around the pitch’s footpath. The event aimed to promote health, safety, and community spirit, and was considered a significant success.
Youth Development Initiatives
Dunlavin GAA Club has expressed a commitment to developing Gaelic Games and promoting healthy youth lifestyles in the area. As part of this commitment, the club intends to appoint a Youth Coaching and Development Officer, subject to funding. This role is aimed at enhancing the club’s youth programs and ensuring structured development pathways for young athletes.
Club Development Planning
The club has been in the process of completing a comprehensive Club Development Plan. As part of this process, they have conducted scoping meetings and extended open invitations to community members interested in contributing ideas and feedback. This collaborative approach ensures that the development plan aligns with the needs and aspirations of both the club and the broader community.

Our chairman Andy O Brien thanking everyone involved in getting this project over the line, a lot of work from a lot of people from the planning stage, the grant application, fundraising, the actual building works, down to the finishing touches.
A huge, well done to all involved, all the hard work has paid off, and we have some fantastic upgraded modern facilities to show for it.
We look forward to welcoming all teams, from juveniles to senior level, to the new dressing rooms!!
